At least six Palestinians were killed and 10 others injured, including five university students, in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, in further violations of last year’s ceasefire agreement, medical sources said. and others were injured in an Israeli strike on the Islamic University campus in Gaza City, one of the sources told Anadolu. The attack came shortly after five students were injured, some critically, when an Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering of students on campus, the university said in a statement.

The university suspended administrative and academic activities at its Gaza City premises following the attack, which caused panic among students and displaced Palestinians sheltering on campus after their homes were destroyed during Israel’s genocidal war. In northern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a gathering of civilians along Al-Rashid coastal road in the northwest of the enclave wounded several Palestinians, medical sources said, without specifying their number.

A Palestinian was also hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the foot after Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Faluja area west of Jabalia refugee camp. In southern Gaza, two Palestinians were killed and three others injured in an Israeli strike in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, according to medical sources. The sources also reported that a woman sustained moderate injuries from Israeli gunfire in Khan Younis. Israeli artillery also shelled areas east and south of the city, while gunboats fired bullets and shells toward its coast, witnesses told Anadolu.

In central Gaza, a 33-year-old man was killed in an Israeli strike east of Deir al-Balah. At dawn Sunday, Israeli forces carried out two demolitions of homes and buildings in areas under their control in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of eastern Gaza City, causing two large explosions, local sources said. Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, the Israeli army has killed 1,551 Palestinians and injured 5,573 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Since October 2023, Israel's war in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000, while causing widespread destruction to about 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.

What we found (1)

Anadolu reports six Palestinians killed and ten injured in Israeli attacks across Gaza, naming Israel as the attacker in every incident and placing the day within Israel's genocidal war and its breaches of the ceasefire. One sentence softens the deaths at the Islamic University to "lost their lives", though the headline and opening sentence say plainly that they were killed. Nothing else in the article misleads its reader.

    Minor

    “Three Palestinians lost their lives”

    Why this matters
The words "lost their lives" describe the three people killed in the strike on the Islamic University campus as if they simply died, rather than were killed.
    The impression it gives
Read on its own, the sentence softens the deaths into a loss rather than a killing.
    The context
The same sentence names an Israeli strike, and the headline and opening sentence say these Palestinians were killed, so the reader is not misled about what happened. The phrase is a lapse in wording, not a hidden killing.

What it gets right

  • “after their homes were destroyed during Israel’s genocidal war”

Anadolu calls Israel's assault on Gaza genocidal in its own voice and says who destroyed the homes of the displaced people sheltering on campus.

  • “an Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering of students on campus”

The article names who struck the students and what was hit, with no passive construction hiding the actor.

  • “the Israeli army has killed 1,551 Palestinians and injured 5,573 others”

Anadolu names the Israeli army as the killer during the ceasefire and gives the wider scale, so the day's toll is not read as an isolated incident.
