Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling target southern Lebanon

Israeli forces launched airstrikes and drone and artillery attacks and carried out two detonations across southern Lebanon on Monday, in further violations of an ongoing ceasefire, Lebanese media reported. The attacks targeted six areas across Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil, Marjayoun and Tyre districts, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA). Israeli warplanes struck Wadi al-Hujair, while an Israeli quadcopter drone fired a projectile at the roof of a previously targeted building in the al-Rajm neighborhood of Mayfadoun, the agency said. The outskirts of Mayfadoun also came under intermittent Israeli shelling. In Bint Jbeil district, Israeli artillery targeted the town of Haddatha. Further east, Israeli warplanes carried out two waves of strikes near Tallouseh in Marjayoun district, while troops conducted two powerful detonations in the nearby town of Qantara. The agency did not specify the sites targeted in the detonations. In Tyre district, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Mansouri and its surrounding valley. No casualties were immediately reported in the attacks. Israel has carried out attacks on Lebanon since March 2, killing and injuring thousands of people and displacing over 1.5 million residents. On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored framework agreement providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of the Hezbollah group. Despite the agreement, Israel has continued its attacks on southern Lebanon. Israeli forces also continue to occupy Lebanese territory, including areas held for decades and others seized during more recent wars and military operations.
