COGAT: Israel supplies Gaza with more than 70,000 cubic meters of water daily

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) addressed Gaza residents and outlined a series of measures taken to improve health and environmental conditions in the Strip. COGAT said the measures were also advanced in response to feedback and requests received from residents. “While Hamas thugs are busy with their pathetic struggles for survival and completely ignoring your daily needs, we are listening to you and paying attention to your needs," COGAT wrote in a statement published on its official Facebook page. According to figures released by COGAT, more than 70,000 cubic meters of water are supplied to Gaza each day through four water pipelines, two desalination plants, 170 wells and 250 mobile water tankers. In addition, hundreds of portable toilets have been brought to shelters, while the arrival of water tankers and the removal of waste have been coordinated in various areas in response to residents’ requests. Additional sites for waste disposal have also been approved. According to the statement, international organizations are also taking part in efforts to improve public health and hygiene in the Strip. Among other initiatives, COGAT noted that the United Arab Emirates is promoting projects in Gaza, including a campaign aimed at addressing the spread of rats, rodents and pests.
