Israeli airstrike injures 2, including child, in southern Lebanon: State media
Two people, including a 4-year-old child, were injured in an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon on Wednesday amid continued Israeli military operations despite a US-brokered framework agreement. Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) said the strike targeted the town of Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district. Earlier, Israeli artillery shelled the towns of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun, while machine-gun fire targeted the Beit al-Sayyad area, the agency reported. Artillery fire also struck the outskirts of Haddatha and Baraachit, along with several other locations in the Bint Jbeil district. The attacks came amid an Israeli military offensive against Lebanon that began March 2 and has killed 4,386 people and injured 12,413 others, according to the latest figures from Lebanon's Health Ministry. On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-brokered framework agreement in Washington providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas vacated by Israeli forces. Israeli forces have continued carrying out attacks in Lebanon despite the agreement and remain in control of parts of Lebanese territory, including areas held for decades and others seized during more recent military operations.
