3 years of Gaza genocide: Berlin rally calls for end to Israeli occupation
Around 2,000 people rallied on Saturday at the Chancellery in Berlin to commemorate the genocide in Gaza. Under the slogan United4Palestine - No Peace on Stolen Land, demonstrators protested against Israel’s occupation of Palestinian lands. Numerous Palestinian flags were on display. One large banner read, “Genocide in the name of national interest,” and another said, “End the terror of occupation,” the Berlin-based Tagesspiegel newspaper reported. The demonstrators chanted “Free Palestine, free Palestine” and “Palestine has the right to defend itself with stones and guns.” On Wednesday, several hundred people took to the streets in Berlin to support Palestinian rights, three years after the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. Demonstrators, among them Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, demanded an end to the war in Gaza, accountability for Israeli war crimes and an end to German arms deliveries to Israel. The death toll in the Gaza war exceeds 74,000, equivalent to 3.4% of the enclave’s estimated prewar population. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported 74,237 deaths and 175,206 injuries as of Oct. 4, 2026.
