Iran retaliated, with state media reporting strikes on eight oil tankers and two US vessels, though US Central Command disputed this claim as "completely false". It wrote on X: "No US Navy warship has been struck; all IRGC attempted attacks failed." Iran's foreign ministry also slammed Washington's attacks as "illegal and aggressive" and warned of "consequences". It said: "Responsibility for the consequences arising from the continuation of US aggressive and interventionist actions in the region will rest with the US regime and its accomplices and partners."
