About this analysis

Haaretz runs a one-sentence report that President Donald Trump said the US was talking with Iran and had 'beaten Iran'. The headline and body both attribute every claim to Trump in quotation marks. Nothing in this short item misleads the reader.

What it gets right

“President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States was "talking with Iran," adding that "we've beaten Iran, we are doing very well with Iran."”
Haaretz keeps Trump's claims of victory and progress inside quotation marks and attributes them to him. It does not adopt them in its own voice.
“Trump: U.S. Is 'Talking to Iran' and Doing 'Very Well' With Tehran”
The headline names Trump as the speaker and quotes words he did say, according to other coverage of the same remarks. It does not go beyond the body.
