Multiple US Aircraft Reported Damaged in Iran’s Tuesday Night Strikes on US Base in Jordan

CBS News reported on Thursday that Iran’s strikes on a US base in Jordan, which it launched overnight Tuesday into Wednesday in retaliation for the US attack on multiple Iranian oil tankers, damaged multiple US military aircraft. Sources told the outlet that the heavy missile attack on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan struck an A-10 Thunderbolt, known as the “Warthog,” destroying one of its wings. Eight US F-15s were also hit, and sources told CBS they sustained “light damage” and were put back into service. President Trump denied the report in an interview with NewsNation when asked about the potential damage, claiming, “Nope… None whatsoever. No damage. No nothing.” The New York Times also reported that the base was damaged in the attack, though the paper’s sources described it as “minimal.” The sources, two unnamed US officials, also said there were no US deaths in the attack, but acknowledged that some troops may come forward to report traumatic brain injuries. The Pentagon has consistently downplayed casualties in the war and typically only quietly admits to injuries when updating its casualty database or when it’s pressured to do so due to media reports. According to the latest numbers from the Pentagon , since the US and Israel launched the war against Iran on February 28, 18 US troops have been killed, and 822 have been injured.
