What it gets right

  • “Lebanon’s military said on Monday it uncovered a tunnel”

The article opens by attributing the find to the army's own statement rather than stating it in the outlet's voice.

  • “No weapons or military equipment were found inside.”

Al-Monitor reports the fact that cuts against any assumption the tunnel was used for weapons, so the Hezbollah context in S2 does not settle what the tunnel was for.

  • “An investigation has been opened to identify the intended purpose of the tunnel”

The article makes clear the tunnel's purpose is unknown and does not assign it to anyone.
