Israeli occupiers target medical aid teams on duty in occupied West Bank: Activist
Israeli occupiers on Wednesday harassed medical aid teams while they were carrying out humanitarian work in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, disrupting their access to residents and preventing them from providing treatment to injured and sick people, according to a local activist. Mohammed Al-Amour, an activist against Israeli settlement expansion, said in a statement that occupiers chased an ambulance operated by the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, a nongovernmental organization, while it was working in the Masafer Yatta area. “Medical teams have not been spared attacks and harassment in Masafer Yatta,” Amour said. “When an ambulance is being chased, the danger to people’s lives becomes greater,” he added. The occupied West Bank has lately witnessed a rise in attacks by Israeli occupiers against Palestinians and their property, including incursions into towns and villages and assaults on residents, vehicles and property, according to Palestinian officials. In August, Israeli occupiers carried out 628 attacks across the West Bank, according to Palestinian data. The attacks were concentrated in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate with 157 incidents, followed by Nablus with 137, Hebron 120, Bethlehem 73, Tubas 40, Jenin 36 and Jerusalem 31. Around 750,000 Israeli occupiers live in 156 settlements and 360 outposts across the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian figures.
