Israeli fire kills Palestinian, injures 3, including child, in central Gaza
A Palestinian was killed and three others, including a child, were injured by Israeli fire in the central Gaza Strip on Friday, as artillery shelling and heavy gunfire targeted multiple areas across the enclave. The attacks came amid continued Israeli violations of a ceasefire that has been in effect since Oct. 10, 2025. A medical source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital told Anadolu that the body of Ibrahim Mohammed Abu Khashan, 40, was brought to the hospital after he was shot in the neck by Israeli forces east of Al-Masdar town, near Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. Three other Palestinians, including two women and a child, sustained varying injuries when Israeli military vehicles opened fire toward the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the source said. Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire at Palestinian homes east of Deir al-Balah and the Maghazi and Bureij refugee camps, according to witnesses and local sources. The gunfire coincided with intensive Israeli artillery shelling of eastern areas of the central Gaza Strip. Witnesses also reported increased movement of Israeli military vehicles in areas under army control in eastern central Gaza. Elsewhere, Israeli artillery shelling and heavy gunfire targeted wide areas northwest of Rafah and east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, an Anadolu correspondent reported. Shelling and gunfire also hit areas east of the Shujaiya and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City. Israeli violations of the ceasefire had killed 1,471 Palestinians and injured 5,189 others as of Thursday, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry. Since October 2023, Israel's war in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and injured over 175,000 others, according to Palestinian figures, also destroying about 90% of the enclave's infrastructure.
