The Iranian state TV issued the following message: "All oil tankers in the Kuwait and Bahrain area must be evacuated immediately. Given the atrocities of the US terrorist army in targeting several Iranian oil tankers, we warn all oil tanker crews in the vicinity of the Kuwaiti and Bahraini ports—which host these terrorists and are complicit in their crimes—to immediately abandon their vessels, whether at anchor or alongside the docks, as they will be targeted." Last week, Kuwaiti authorities said their air defences were confronting "hostile missile and drone attacks, following the sinful Iranian aggression". (Image: Getty) Their message also added: "The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of air defence systems intercepting the hostile attacks. Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities." The Iranian message came after the US carried out strikes on Kharg Island, meaning tensions could likely rise again as the IRGC seeks to retaliate. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT The US military has struck targets near Kharg Island and Jask on Tuesday, with the IRGC -affiliated Tasnim news agency confirming the tanker was hit by a missile about four miles from Kharg Island. The semi-official agency also said there were no reports of casualties. Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT The IRGC has already claimed to have seized one of the US military's most advanced unmanned submarines in the Strait of Hormuz . In a statement, they said that naval forces intercepted the high-tech vessel using a "complex intelligence and operational action" at the entrance of the crucial shipping route. This followed a series of attacks that took place over the weekend and during which the US said it launched strikes on three Iranian oil tankers over the weekend, destroying one of them, in retaliation for attacks on US Navy warships. In response, Iran’s top security official said a new restricted zone outside the Strait of Hormuz will be declared in the coming days.
