Lebanon receives 1 prisoner from Israel despite reports 5 would be released: Lebanese Military source

Lebanon received one Lebanese prisoner from Israel through the Red Cross on Thursday despite an Israeli media report that five prisoners would be released, a senior Lebanese military source told Anadolu. The source, who requested anonymity, said the Lebanese side received one prisoner through the Red Cross but did not provide further details. Israel's public broadcaster KAN identified the released prisoner as Malik Kamal Ghazi, saying he was affiliated with Hezbollah and had been detained by Israeli forces in Ain Ata in southern Lebanon in October 2025. KAN said Ghazi was handed over to the Red Cross at the Naqoura crossing and later transferred to the Lebanese army, which took him for medical examinations. Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israel was expected to release five prisoners and hand them over to Lebanon on Thursday. The broadcaster said the planned releases were being coordinated with the US as part of ongoing talks with Beirut. It added that the issue of prisoners and missing persons was a key part of talks between the two sides and that preliminary lists were exchanged during the latest round of negotiations in Rome.
