Trump considers 'biggest ever' attack on Iran - 'they haven't had enough pain'

Donald Trump has said he is giving serious thought to restarting major combat operations in Iran with the biggest attack of the war. News website Axios reported the US president as saying he was considering a "massive attack" that would be "bigger than ever before" and that he was "close to making a decision". Trump said the Iranians "want to negotiate" according to the news site, but they were not ready to make a deal at the present time. "They haven't received enough pain yet," he reportedly said. His words come amid a surge of US military to the Middle East with more US Special Forces heading to the region along with extra squadrons of fighter jets. In a post on social media, US Central Command said this morning (Thursday) that US forces had "completed another round of strikes against Iran for the 12th consecutive night". "I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it," Axios reported the President as saying. The outlet said it had heard from military sources that no final decisions have been made and no new orders have been issued to US armed forces. Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guard today issued a chilling warning to the British Royal Family and threatened military bases in the UK after the US launched an attack involving what Tehran claims was a mission from RAF Fairford. An IRGC press release said "any base used to invade Iranian territory is our legitimate target" before issuing a shock warning to the "British monarchy". The statement claimed the monarchy is "the main cause of the misfortunes of the people of our region" and urged that it shouldn't "burden its case any further." But reacting to the threat specifically against RAF Fairford, a Government spokesperson said: "Our Armed Forces are ready to keep the United Kingdon safe from any kind of attacks, whether it's on our soil or from abroad. "The UK stands ready 24-7 to defend itself. This includes through operating a layered approach to air and missile defence, provided by the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force assets equipped with a range of advanced capabilities working closely with our NATO allies. "
