Palestinians report more than 3,100 attacks by Israeli army, occupiers in occupied West Bank in October
The Israeli army and occupiers carried out 3,133 attacks across the occupied West Bank in October, a 52.8% increase from September, a Palestinian government body said Monday. In its monthly report, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said Israeli forces carried out 1,764 attacks, while occupiers were responsible for 1,369 assaults. Attacks by Israeli occupiers rose 111.6% compared with September, when 647 assaults were recorded, the commission said.
The attacks included shootings and physical assaults against Palestinians, damage to property and agricultural land, the burning of trees and vehicles, and the seizure of property. The commission said the incidents also included road closures and preventing Palestinians from accessing their land. The report comes amid a broader escalation in Israeli military operations and occupier violence across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the start of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
The period has also seen intensified raids, movement restrictions, land seizures, forced displacement of Palestinian communities and continued expansion of illegal settlements and outposts across the occupied territory. In a landmark advisory opinion in July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
