Vance said Trump believes “we can get the long-term settlement to Iran’s nuclear deal.” “Now, Israel may like that, they may not like that, but fundamentally, we think this is in the best interest of the United States of America,” Vance said. “So we’re going to keep on pursuing it, because that’s what the president of the United States was elected to do.” An Israeli strike on Beirut yesterday led to an Iranian attack against Israel and nearly upended the larger ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. The ministry said that the strike happened near a Red Cross shelter and that eight people were wounded, including four paramedics. The Lebanese Red Cross said earlier today that there was a strike in front of a Red Cross center in Tyre and that four paramedics sustained minor and moderate wounds from glass shrapnel. 39d ago / 8:12 PM EDT Iran's deputy foreign minister criticizes E.U. sanctions Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi criticized the European Union for approving sanctions against Iranian individuals and institutions "in connection with the Strait of Hormuz." "Any violation by the enemy on any front of the Axis of Resistance will be met with a coordinated, unified, and decisive response, without hesitation," said Nasr El-Din Amer, the vice president of the group's Ansarallah Media Authority. Iran refers to its allied militant forces in the region, including the Houthis, as the "Axis of Resistance." Esmail Ghaani, the commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Quds Force, lauded the Houthis for their actions against Israel, adding, "If necessary, others will also join." The U.S. and Iran are "exchanging views and positions in an effort to reach a final text," Iravani said, according to Tasnim. Prices retreated from the day's highest levels after Iran announced the "suspension" of military operations against Israel. Later in the day, Netanyahu said the attacks from Iran had been "contained," helping push prices toward their lowest levels of the day as traders looked for signals that tensions among Iran, Israel and Lebanon may decrease soon. Muhammad Atiya Hassan Abu Afash, Farhat Zuhair Farhat Harara and Abdallah Riyad Masoud Qadoum were killed by strikes on central Gaza on Saturday, the IDF said in a statement. The men were part of Palestinian Islamic Jihad's engineering department or anti-tank missile array, the statement said. Palestinian Islamic Jihadhas not confirmed their deaths.
