The three-point boost follows prime minister Andy Burnham 's well-received party conference speech, which increased support among previous Labour voters to 61 per cent. Reform UK trails at 22 per cent amid ongoing financial controversies, while the Conservatives gained one point ahead of Kemi Badenoch 's conference address. During his speech, Mr Burnham pledged to create a free national social care service, bring key utilities into public ownership, and reconsider UK-EU relations. Although the polling surge has prompted calls for an early general election , Mr Burnham has dismissed the idea of holding a vote ahead of schedule.
