A young woman on a night out partying was caught on camera hurling vile racist abuse at a nightclub bouncer after being asked to move away from the venue. Daisy Johnson made sickening racist remarks and gestures at the security guard, including the N-word, outside Ko Ko Lounge in Rochdale last Saturday night. The 21-year-old, who worked on the 'click-and-collect' counter for Asda in the town, then tried to snatch the bouncer's phone when she realised her disgusting racist outburst had been filmed.

Footage later shared by Platinum Security Events, who provide staff to the nightclub, shows Johnson, who is thought to have been drinking, shouting: 'Look at the state of you, you big b**** m*****. Look at the f****** state of you.' She then appeared to imitate a monkey before trying to slap a camera out of the bouncer's hand and abusing another security guard and club goer. Johnson is now being investigated by the police and has been sacked from her job with the supermarket.

Daisy Johnson was caught on camera making monkey gestures at a security guard and launching vile racist abuse at a black bouncer on Saturday night in Rochdale She has deleted all of her social media profiles since the outburst was shared online and in the fallout has fled her hometown to stay with friends in another city. One witness said she had seen what Johnson was doing during her tirade and tried to intervene only to have abuse directed at her too.

She said: 'She was imitating a monkey, dancing like a gorilla, while calling the bouncer the N-word multiple times, calling him 'sewer trash'. 'I came outside and I saw this poor man being verbally abused by her right in his face. 'I said: 'What are you doing? You can't be doing that? Just go home'. Then she turned the abuse towards me.' Alongside the video of Johnson's rant, the security firm wrote: 'Normally, we wouldn't share footage of incidents involving security staff.

However, on this occasion, we feel it's important to raise awareness of the abuse door supervisors can face simply for doing their jobs. 'We fully understand the nature of the job. We recognise that our staff will encounter challenging situations, verbal abuse, threats and sometimes physical confrontations. But just because abuse is expected, doesn't mean it should be accepted. 'Why should anyone have to go to work and be subjected to this level of abuse from a member of the public? 'Door supervisors are there to keep customers, staff and venues safe.

They deserve the same dignity and respect as anyone else in their workplace. 'Nobody should have to tolerate this kind of treatment simply for doing their job.' The 21-year-old Asda worker was filmed outside outside Ko Ko Lounge in the town centre and the footage has been uploaded onto social media and shared widely Greater Manchester Police say they are investigating the allegation of racial abuse - and it is understood that Johnson has been sacked from her job at Asda Greater Manchester Police said they had opened an investigation although no arrests have yet been made.

Asda confirmed Johnson had been fired from its Rochdale store. A spokesperson told the Mail: 'We do not tolerate any form of abusive behaviour from our colleagues. 'Having reviewed the available evidence, it's clear that the colleague's conduct fell significantly short of the standards we expect and they have been dismissed with immediate effect.' A source at the store where she worked said Johnson and is now believed to have been fired.

Last night her mother Cheryl King said : 'She does not want to say anything. She is not in the right frame of mind to say anything. 'She has had so much abuse and even death threats that she has been in hiding. 'She is mortified about how this has been portrayed. She knows what she did was wrong but the whole video has not been put out there. People have been on TikTok telling lies.' Ms King added: 'As her mother I would only like to say that she is a good girl, a good hard working girl but I don't want to say any more.'

Greater Manchester Police said: 'We are aware of reports of racial abuse in Rochdale town centre which are being discussed on social media. 'A report has been made to GMP and enquiries are ongoing. We are reviewing available evidence and speaking to those involved. We are asking anyone with information that may assist our investigation to please come forward and contact us on 101 quoting log 662 of 20/10/2026.'

What we found (1)

The Daily Mail reports a filmed incident in which a 21-year-old woman racially abused a black door supervisor in Rochdale. The report draws on a witness, the security firm, Asda's confirmation of her dismissal, a police statement and a reply from her mother, and the account of the abuse is well sourced. Its one minor weakness is that it prints private detail with no bearing on the story, chiefly an anonymous source's claim that she had been off work with stress, alongside a mention of the family home after her mother says she has had death threats.

  1. Prints private detail that has nothing to do with the story

    Minor

“had been off work with stress since last week”

    Why this matters
The Mail prints a claim about Johnson's health and sick leave, sourced only to an unnamed 'source at the store'.
    The impression it gives
The reader learns private medical and employment detail about her, presented as relevant to the abuse story.
    The context
Her dismissal is already confirmed on the record by Asda's spokesperson. The anonymous stress claim adds nothing to the facts of the abuse or the sacking. It is private health detail about a private person.

    • Elsewhere in the article“Asda confirmed Johnson had been fired from its Rochdale store.”

“at the family home in Rochdale”

    Why this matters
The Mail tells readers where it found her mother, naming the town and the family home, and in the same sentence names the mother.
    The impression it gives
The reader comes away knowing the family's home town and the mother's full name, which point towards where the family lives.
    The context
The mother's own words, two sentences later, say the family has faced death threats and that her daughter has been in hiding. Where the family lives has nothing to do with the abuse at the club. The mother's reply could have run without the location of the home.

What it gets right

  • “She was imitating a monkey, dancing like a gorilla, while calling the bouncer the N-word multiple times”

It grounds the headline's account of racist abuse in a named-as-present eyewitness rather than resting on its own description alone.

  • “She knows what she did was wrong but the whole video has not been put out there.”

It gives the accused's family a right of reply and prints their objection about the footage in full.

  • “we feel it's important to raise awareness of the abuse door supervisors can face simply for doing their jobs”

It gives space to the target's side through his employer and calls the conduct racist abuse plainly, without softening it.
