About this analysis

Arab News reports that Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy pledged full support for Lebanon's negotiations with Israel after meeting President Joseph Aoun, and announced a visit to southern Lebanon. The headline matches the body, the pledge is attributed to Fahmy, and the article names Israel as the party attacking Lebanese citizens. Nothing in it misleads; the body text is simply printed twice.

What it gets right

  • “amid repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanese citizens and interests”

The outlet names Israel as the actor in its own voice and says plainly who is being attacked, rather than writing of tensions or clashes in the south.

  • “Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy said on Monday”

The Arab League's position is attributed to a named official with a date, so the reader knows whose pledge this is.
