Israeli army wounds Palestinian inside his vehicle in occupied West Bank
Israeli army forces wounded a Palestinian man on Friday when they opened fire on his vehicle in the city of Dura, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, local sources told Anadolu. They opened fire while he was inside his vehicle at Al-Alam Square in central Dura, the sources said. Israeli forces cordoned off the area, while a Palestinian ambulance arrived at the scene, they added. The Palestinian sustained a live-fire wound to the chest during an Israeli raid, the Palestinian Health Ministry also said in a statement, without providing further details. In a statement seen by Anadolu, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society also noted that it had been notified of a live-fire injury caused by Israeli forces at Al-Alam Square in Dura, confirming that local ambulance crews treated the wounded man. The identity of the injured Palestinian and the extent of his injuries were not immediately revealed. The incident came hours after two Palestinians were killed in a shootout with Israeli forces following allegations that they had opened fire at Israeli occupiers in the West Bank city of Hebron, wounding five people. Following the reported shooting, the Israeli army announced a full closure of Hebron and several surrounding towns. The occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has witnessed an escalation in Israeli military operations and occupier attacks since Israel launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The attacks have included the killing and arrest of Palestinians, the demolition of homes and other structures, the burning of mosques and vehicles, the destruction of agricultural land, preventing farmers from accessing their fields, and the displacement of Palestinian communities, alongside illegal settlement expansion.
