Trump threatens Iran with 'biggest attack of them all' as Americans in Middle East told to 'be aware'

Americans travelling or living in the Middle East have been warned of 'potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions' in the region as Trump threatens fresh attacks in Iran. Donald Trump issued stark warning to Iran following confirmation that the US has launched fresh strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. The US President said American forces were "as we speak" hitting Iranian targets close to the vital shipping route, and threatened that "the biggest attack of them all is waiting in the wings". The President's Truth Social post came within hours of the US Consulate in the Middle East issuing a warning to Americans in the region. The US State Department said American citizens should be aware of potential flight disruption. The consular advice states: "Due to tensions in the Middle East , the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation. Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions." Trump said that the current US strikes on Iran were a response to country's attempt to lay sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and an attack on a US military base in Jordan which saw eight missiles launched. On Truth Social he said added: "If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!" Trump also maintained the Strait of Hormuz presently has "no mines", claiming those positioned in the critical waterway had been "completely removed or detonated". The President confirmed all eight missiles launched at the US military base in Jordan had been "successfully knocked down". His most recent remarks follow Iranian state television broadcasting what it claimed were ballistic missiles being fired towards US bases in Jordan. Jordan's armed forces also reported that eight missiles entering its airspace early on Monday were intercepted. The US strikes targeted two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island, according to a US official cited by Axios. Trump subsequently told Fox News: "We're going to hit them hard. There will be a response." He also branded Iran's leadership as "violent" and "evil" while issuing warnings over its nuclear ambitions. Trump said: "If they had a nuclear weapon, Israel would be gone. If I weren't President, Israel would be gone and there would probably be no Middle East." The US launched attacks on Larak Island on August 30. These attacks marked the first reported US strike on Iranian territory since late July. The mounting tensions have also unsettled energy markets, with oil prices climbing by approximately three per cent in the wake of the previous strikes.
