  • Amend the headline to name the belligerent actor and include a reference to the party said to be at risk, so that the direction of the alleged threat is clear to a reader who sees only the headline. A faithful example would be: "Former Congresswoman claims White House is discussing nuclear strike on Iran."

The politician, who often posts conspiracy theories online, went on to address the damage caused by the last nuclear weapon in 1945 in Japan, that saw a total of 214,000 deaths. Greene further claimed: "Trump and his admin were told by our own intelligence that Iran was no where near creating a nuclear weapon, then Israel said the same line it’s repeated for decades, “Iran is only weeks away.” Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Congresswoman, made the claims on X (Image: Getty) WW3 fears explode as NATO jets open fire during savage Russian attack Russian economy in meltdown as Ukraine deals Putin a major blow - 'massive headache' "So we bombed anyways, killed their leaders and innocent little children in a school, and Iran has controlled the Strait of Hormuz ever since and punished the region for their part in it. The attack on Trump comes after he said on Friday he'll be "declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States" during an event in Long Island. The US President added that Iran had been "very badly defeated". He posted on Truth Social last week: “Nothing gets through to Iran, unless we want it to, and nothing will get through, unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished. Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are, in fact, talking of a solution to a problem that they have caused, for decades.” Throughout the duration of the war Trump has repeatedly said Iran needs to surrender its enriched uranium stockpiles - which he regularly calls "nuclear dust". As talks continually get prolonged and ceasefires called off, the issue of nuclear weapons remains at the forefront of negotiations, according to the US President. However, despite his strong stance on ensuring Iran do not have nuclear weapons former Congresswoman Greene claims: "Trump promised no more foreign wars, but may actually be the one who delivers a nuclear holocaust that would likely drag the entire world into major conflict, economic depression, and mass human suffering we’ve never seen in our lifetimes and maybe throughout history. "People need to speak out and boldly stop this insanity. America is not untouchable. If and when that happens, everyone, and I do mean everyone, will hold ALL of those in leadership right now fully responsible for the rest of human history." She added: "Do not use nuclear weapons and stop this war NOW." Daily Express have contacted the White House for further comment.
