IDF destroys 8 miles of Gaza tunnels where body of Hadar Goldin was held
Soldiers from the IDF’s Paratroopers Brigade destroyed or sealed approximately eight miles of tunnels in the Gaza Strip over the past three months, the military announced Monday. Operating under the command of the 143rd and 99th divisions, the troops conducted defensive missions and dismantled what the IDF described as terrorist infrastructure along the “Yellow Line.” Working alongside the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, the soldiers neutralized several underground tunnel networks. The operation included the destruction of part of the tunnel where the body of Lt. Hadar Goldin had been held. Goldin was killed and abducted by Hamas on Aug. 1, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge. His remains were returned to Israel in January 2026. The IDF said troops also dismantled numerous sites used by terrorist organizations and seized Hamas weapons, including RPG anti-tank rockets, mortar shells, grenades, missile launchers and ammunition. According to the military, the weapons were intended for attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. Israeli forces also constructed new access roads and established several military positions to strengthen defenses in the area.
