Arutz Sheva turns an Israeli military announcement into its own account. It writes four killings as eliminations, never once saying anyone was killed, and calls the dead terrorists in its own voice on the IOF's word alone. It also states the army's charge of a ceasefire violation and its accounts of the men's pasts as established fact, and gives no voice but the army's.

  1. Writes the death out

    Severe

    “eliminates”

    Why this matters
The headline uses "eliminates" for four killings in Israeli air strikes.
    The impression it gives
A reader takes in a clean military result, a removal, and not the deaths of four people from bombs.
    The context
Four men were killed in air strikes. Other coverage of the same announcement says so plainly. The article never uses the word killed anywhere.

    How we know

    Show it in the article

    “have been eliminated”

    Why this matters
The opening sentence repeats the euphemism in the passive, "have been eliminated".
    The impression it gives
A reader sees the deaths only as an administrative outcome, with no killing named in the lead.
    The context
These were killings by air strike. C1 reports the same facts as killings.

    How we know

“the IDF eliminated two additional terrorists”

    Why this matters
In its own voice the outlet again says "eliminated" for the October 22 strikes, adding two more deaths to the count without the word.
    The impression it gives
A reader reads a tally of targets removed and not a count of people killed.
    The context
Two men were killed in those strikes. The article goes from headline to closing quote without naming a single death as a killing.

  2. Labels people on one side's word

    Severe

    “Hamas terrorists”

    Why this matters
The headline calls the four dead "Hamas terrorists" in the outlet's own voice.
    The impression it gives
A reader takes it as established fact that all four were terrorists.
    The context
The only basis the article gives is an IOF announcement. No independent source, family or Palestinian account appears anywhere.

“two terrorists from Hamas' military wing”

    Why this matters

    The impression it gives

  3. States one side's claim as fact

    Serious

“Such activities are a systematic violation of the ceasefire.”

    Why this matters
The outlet states, unattributed and in its own voice, that the men's activities violated the ceasefire.
    The impression it gives
A reader takes the ceasefire violation as an established fact, which justifies the strikes.
    The context
This is the army's own charge. C1 attributes it to the IOF, and the outlet's own earlier report printed the same words as an IOF quote.

    How we know

“who was directly involved in strengthening and rebuilding Hamas' military wing in the Gaza Strip”

    Why this matters

A reader believes Hamad's activity has been established.
    The context
This is what the military said. C1 attributes it.
