Tap a highlight to see why it matters.1 finding

The U.S. is offering up to $20 million to anyone with information on Iran’s nuclear program. "If you have information on Iran’s nuclear program, assets, or associated individuals, send it to us via Signal or our Tor-based tip line. You may be eligible for a reward and relocation," the U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program said in an announcement posted to X. The State Department said it was seeking information on "nuclear scientists and staff, nuclear program-related technologies, and capabilities, associated organizations and personnel."

What we found (1)

Fox News reports the State Department's $20 million reward for information on Iran's nuclear programme and Trump's deliberation over renewed strikes, keeping the weapons claim attributed to the State Department. The article gives Trump and US officials every quoted line, including his threat to destroy the rest of Iran. Iran appears only as a target and a negotiating party, and its government's stated position goes unreported.

    Minor

“I would rather not destroy the rest of the country if possible, but maybe I will have to.”

    Why this matters
Fox News quotes Trump threatening to destroy the rest of Iran. It sets no Iranian response against the threat, here or anywhere else in the article. Every quoted voice in the piece is American: the State Department, Trump and unnamed US officials.
    The impression it gives
A reader comes away with only Washington's view of where the talks and the threatened strikes stand. Nothing tells the reader what Iran's government has said about negotiating.
    The context
The same day's coverage reports that Iran's president said his government was still trying to resolve the crisis through dialogue. It also reports that Tehran denies a site Trump named as a target is a nuclear facility. The article includes neither.

What it gets right

  • “the agency added”

Fox News leaves the line about countering 'any attempt by Iran to develop a nuclear weapons program' as the State Department's words. It does not state the weapons claim in its own voice.

  • “senior U.S. officials told Fox News”

The claim about the new moon favouring military operations is attributed to its source and not presented as the outlet's own assessment.
