Illegal resident previously involved in terrorist activity arrested while filming at a light rail station in Bnei Brak
Light Rail Unit police officers in the Tel Aviv District arrested a 32-year-old illegal resident from the West Bank after he was observed taking photos and videos at the Aharonovich light rail station in Bnei Brak. The suspect pretended to be a resident of Tayibe and provided false information to the police. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that he had previously been involved in security-related incidents. The incident occurred in the morning hours on Monday when the underground station's security guards noticed a person who aroused their suspicion while taking photos and filming at the site. The security guards called the light rail police unit, who arrived at the station and began checking his identity. At the beginning of the investigation, the suspect provided an identification number and introduced himself as a resident of Tayibe. Later, after a thorough check, the officers discovered that he was an illegal resident who had impersonated an Israeli citizen and given false information. According to suspicion, the man was previously involved in carrying out attacks against Israeli targets. He was arrested and transferred for interrogation at the police station in Bnei Brak. The suspect is expected to be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
