Netanyahu picks Elisha Medan, who lost both legs in Gaza, for Likud slate

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has placed IDF combat reservist Elisha Medan, who was critically wounded in a battle in Beit Hanoun and lost both his legs, on the Likud's slate for the upcoming Knesset elections. Medan is one of the founders of the community of Avigail in the Hebron Hills. He is married to Miriam and the father of six. He will be placed in the number 11 spot on the Likud list, which was reserved for a candidate of Netanyahu's choosing. Medan was wounded during an operation in the northern Gaza Strip, in an incident in which four of his fellow soldiers were killed. The Likud said that Medan “embodies the values of dedication, responsibility, love of the Land of Israel and camaraderie." The party added that his life story reflects the spirit of Israel’s soldiers and Israeli society’s ability to recover from profound loss.
