At least six Palestinians were killed and 10 others injured, including five university students, in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, in further violations of last year’s ceasefire agreement, medical sources said. and others were injured in an Israeli strike on the Islamic University campus in Gaza City, one of the sources told Anadolu. The attack came shortly after five students were injured, some critically, when an Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering of students on campus, the university said in a statement.

The university suspended administrative and academic activities at its Gaza City premises following the attack, which caused panic among students and displaced Palestinians sheltering on campus after their homes were destroyed during Israel’s genocidal war. In northern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a gathering of civilians along Al-Rashid coastal road in the northwest of the enclave wounded several Palestinians, medical sources said, without specifying their number.

A Palestinian was also hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the foot after Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Faluja area west of Jabalia refugee camp. In southern Gaza, two Palestinians were killed and three others injured in an Israeli strike in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, according to medical sources. The sources also reported that a woman sustained moderate injuries from Israeli gunfire in Khan Younis. Israeli artillery also shelled areas east and south of the city, while gunboats fired bullets and shells toward its coast, witnesses told Anadolu.

In central Gaza, a 33-year-old man was killed in an Israeli strike east of Deir al-Balah. At dawn Sunday, Israeli forces carried out two demolitions of homes and buildings in areas under their control in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of eastern Gaza City, causing two large explosions, local sources said. Despite a ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, the Israeli army has killed 1,551 Palestinians and injured 5,573 others, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Since October 2023, Israel's war in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000, while causing widespread destruction to about 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.

What we found (1)

Anadolu reports Sunday's Israeli attacks across Gaza, names Israel as the actor in each strike and shooting, and sets the day's toll against the deaths since the October 2025 ceasefire and Israel's genocidal war. The one slip is a single sentence that says three people at the Islamic University "lost their lives" rather than were killed, though the same sentence names the Israeli strike. Nothing in the article misleads a reader about who did the killing.

    Minor

    “Three Palestinians lost their lives”

    Why this matters
The words "lost their lives" describe the three people killed in the strike on the Islamic University as if they simply died, where the rest of the article says "killed".
    The impression it gives
A reader of this one sentence meets a softer account of the deaths at the university than of the other deaths that day.
    The context
They were killed by an Israeli strike, as the same sentence and the headline make clear, and other coverage reports the strike killed at least three people. The actor is named, so the harm is limited to the softened verb.

What it gets right

  • “after their homes were destroyed during Israel’s genocidal war”

Anadolu calls the genocide what it is in its own voice and says who destroyed the homes of the displaced people sheltering on campus.

  • “the Israeli army has killed 1,551 Palestinians and injured 5,573 others”

The ceasefire-period toll names the actor and uses the word killed, so the reader sees that the killing has continued despite the ceasefire.

  • “after Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Faluja area west of Jabalia refugee camp”

Even a single injury is reported with the shooter named, not as a wound with no one behind it.
