Foreign lawyers joining Iran’s legal push to prosecute US for Minab massacre: Deputy FM
A growing number of foreign lawyers from Europe and even within the United States are voluntarily stepping up to open legal cases against Washington for the Minab school massacre, joining Iran’s endeavors to hold the US accountable for the atrocity, according to Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs.
In an exclusive interview with Press TV, Kazem Gharibabadi noted that several foreign legal teams have already initiated investigations and filed cases in their respective domestic courts to prosecute the perpetrators of the massacre.
Praising these efforts as a vital expression of global solidarity, Gharibabadi urged the international legal community to expand the campaign.
"I believe that opening one or two cases is not enough. Several cases should be opened before various courts," he emphasized, extending an open invitation to any lawyer pursuing accountability.
"If they need any evidence, they can contact us, or they can contact civil society in Iran. We will provide them with all necessary evidence to let them pursue those judicial cases."
The US military strike on the Minab Elementary School killed 168 innocent individuals, including students, sports players, school board members, teachers, and parents.
Gharibabadi described the attack on the Minab Elementary School as the most shocking and bizarre crime committed by the United States on the opening day of its aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He stressed that the deliberate targeting of a school filled with children constitutes "a clear crime against humanity and a very clear war crime."
The deputy foreign minister emphasized that under international humanitarian law, children, educational centers, hospitals, and civilian infrastructure are granted absolute immunity from military attack.
By bombing the Minab school, the United States flagrantly violated every foundational principle of human rights law and the specific international regulations prohibiting attacks on children and educational institutions.
Multi-layered legal pursuit
To ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice, Gharibabadi said Iran is executing a multi-layered legal strategy alongside these foreign efforts.
He confirmed that a formal indictment has already been issued by the Iranian judiciary regarding the massacre.
The necessary evidence has been compiled, and a specialized committee composed of highly eminent and professional lawyers has been established to manage the proceedings.
"We are preparing ourselves to open judicial cases before foreign courts," Gharibabadi stated. "The United States should be held accountable and responsible for the crime that it has committed."

He added that Iran has also formally raised the issue before various international organizations to ensure the crime is permanently documented on the global stage.
Gharibabadi’s remarks come as Iran intensifies its legal and diplomatic campaign to hold the United States accountable for the unprecedented war crimes committed during the 40-day imposed war.
This brutal campaign included not only the Minab school massacre but also the assassination of the late leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and widespread attacks on civilian infrastructure.
