GB News states in its own voice that the army thwarted a terror attack, in the text and in a picture caption, though other outlets attribute that claim to the army. It reports an order to close the whole West Bank and never says the territory is occupied.

  1. States one side's claim as fact

    Serious

“after the IDF thwarted a "terror attack" in the West Bank”

    Why this matters
GB News writes "the IDF thwarted" in its own voice. Only the label "terror attack" sits in quotation marks.
    The impression it gives
It is an established fact that the army stopped a planned attack, and that this is what happened at Hebron.
    The context
That an attack was thwarted is the army's and Netanyahu's account. The Mirror and The Independent both attribute it to the army. GB News itself attributes the next sentence to the army, which shows it knew this was the army's version.

    How we know

    Show it in the article

“Five Israelis were wounded after the IDF thwarted a 'terror attack' in the West Bank earlier today”

    Why this matters
The picture caption repeats "the IDF thwarted" as plain fact, with no attribution.
    The impression it gives
A reader who only skims the captions takes the army's account of a prevented attack as confirmed.
    The context
Sky News reports this as what the army said: that it "prevented a" terror attack against civilians. It remains the army's claim, not a verified event.

    How we know

    Written straight

Five Israelis were wounded in a shooting near Hebron this morning. The Israeli army said its soldiers killed the two attackers and that it had prevented a "terror attack".

  2. Hedges the documented record

    Serious

“Israel has told its army to prepare for a full closure of the West Bank”

    Why this matters
GB News reports an order to shut down the entire West Bank and never calls the territory occupied, anywhere in the article.
    The impression it gives
Israel is sealing off its own territory, and the West Bank's status has no bearing on an order to lock down millions of Palestinians.
    The context
The ICJ has found Israel's occupation of the West Bank unlawful. The Mirror and Sky News both describe the territory as occupied in their reports of the same order. The only names for the territory in the article are "the West Bank" and Netanyahu's "Judea and Samaria".

    How we know

    Written straight

Israel has ordered its army to prepare a full closure of the occupied West Bank, Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed.
