The majority of the 350 people who live in the small Oxfordshire village voted in favour of leaving the UK in response to Labour's plans to house 1,250 male migrants in a former military base on their doorstep. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has now been urged to reconsider the decision, with Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber writing to her about how the proposed plans will affect community safety and police resources. Following his letter, Piddington resident Christina Gower joined Dawn Neesom on GB News , where she expressed her concern over the government's plans. "When we spoke to rural policing, they said to us that it would take up to 45 minutes for them to get here and the best thing we can do for ourselves is to run and hide," she said. Dawn questioned Christina on how she feels about being ignored by the government before pointing out that the male asylum seekers being housed in the area would have "free reign" of the area, which she described as being in the "middle of nowhere".
