Israeli strikes on southern Lebanese village kill nine people
Israeli strikes on a southern Lebanese village killed at least nine people, including women and children, Lebanon's Health Ministry said. <p>The ministry said one of the strikes hit a building in Kfar Rumman, killing eight people, including a child and two women.</p><p>It said 11 people were wounded, including four children and two women.</p><p>The ministry added that another strike on a car in the village killed a paramedic with the Lebanese <strong><a href="https://news.sky.com/topic/islamic-7292/1" target="_self">Islamic</a></strong> Risala Scout Association and wounded two others.</p><p>Israel has ramped up its assault on south <strong><a href="https://news.sky.com/topic/lebanon-6383/1" target="_self">Lebanon</a></strong> in recent days, despite a June ceasefire that aims to halt the fighting between the Israeli military and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.</p><widget id="10"></widget> <widget id="2"></widget><p><strong>Read more from Sky News<br /><a href="https://news.sky.com/story/amazon-cargo-plane-overshoots-runway-at-miami-airport-13582555" target="_self">At least five dead after Amazon plane crashes in Miami</a></strong><br /><strong><a href="https://news.sky.com/story/at-least-25-dead-after-bus-plunges-into-steep-ravine-on-cape-verde-island-13582377" target="_self">At least 25 dead after bus accident in Cape Verde</a></strong></p><p>Earlier on Monday, <strong><a href="https://news.sky.com/topic/israel-5981/1" target="_self">Israel's</a></strong> military issued an evacuation warning for a home in the village of Deir al Zahrani and shortly afterwards a building was struck. No information was available on casualties.</p><p>The strikes come days after Israel's military said it took "operational control" of the strategic Ali Taher hill that overlooks several villages as well as main roads leading to the city of Nabatiyeh.</p><p>On Sunday, at least seven people were killed in <strong><a href="https://news.sky.com/story/four-killed-in-israeli-strikes-on-southern-lebanon-13582240" target="_self">Israeli strikes</a></strong>. The Israeli military said the strikes were in retaliation for the terrorist group firing two drones at Israeli soldiers stationed in the security zone.</p><p>The Lebanese health ministry said on Friday that four people were killed and 23 injured in Israeli strikes launched on southern Lebanon without evacuation warnings.</p> <widget id="11"></widget> <widget id="12"></widget> <widget id="1"></widget><p>Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed more than 4,300 people since Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel on 2 March.</p><p>The action - two days after the start of US and Israeli strikes on Iran - sparked an Israeli air and ground offensive.</p><p>The ceasefire saw violence decline dramatically, but Israeli troops occupying swathes of southern Lebanon have continued razing villages in the self-declared security zone.</p><p>Israel's military has continued its strikes both within the zone and to its north, mostly without evacuation warnings.</p>
