“Their executions were carried out after the Supreme Court upheld their sentences”

    Why this matters
Al Arabiya closes on the Supreme Court's role, after four sentences sourced only to the judiciary and state media. No defendant, lawyer, family member or rights group is quoted at any point.
    The impression it gives
A reader comes away thinking the case passed through an ordinary legal process with nothing contested about it.
    The context
Rights monitors were reporting on the case. HRANA said two of the men were sentenced by a Revolutionary Court only days earlier. IranWire, citing a committee monitoring detained protesters, published information on the case. The judiciary's evidence has not been independently examined.
