The TikTok hate preacher: Terrorist's 'highly toxic' social media rants 'target 11 to 15-year-olds online'
Hate preacher Anjem Choudary 's former right-hand man has been telling thousands of social media users that most imprisoned extremists are jailed for 'reading magazines and holding placards'. Mizanur Rahman, 43, who is a convicted terrorist, also raged about Britain being part of an 'axis of evil' with the USA and Israel and labelled Muslim cops 'greedy sinners' in a series of online diatribes. Experts fear these rants could be aimed at 'sweet talking impressionable Muslims into committing acts of violence against non-Muslims by insisting that Islamist jihadists are not terrorists or killers'. A longtime associate of Choudary – labelled Britain's most prolific Islamist terror radicaliser – Rahman is an internet expert who created private online chatrooms for the hate preacher's followers. In 2016 he was jailed for five-and-a-half years for inviting support for Isis alongside Choudary. But the Daily Mail can now reveal north London -based Rahman, who was freed in October 2018, has been using TikTok to broadcast angry anti-British rants to his near 2,000 followers, earning himself almost 10,000 likes in t he process. Amid fears Rahman is using TikTok to target impressionable young Muslims, anti-extremism commentators last night said the 'highly toxic nonsense' could have 'horrific repercussions'. Security expert Professor Anthony Glees, of the University of Buckingham, said: 'Mizanur Rahman prides himself on being clever with words but how he uses them could have horrific repercussions. Mizanur Rahman featured on earlier videos praising Islamist militants including Boko Haram 'His mission is to sweet talk impressionable Muslims into committing acts of violence against non-Muslims by insisting that Islamist jihadists are not terrorists or killers. 'It's highly toxic nonsense. Yet Rahman exploits a barmy logic that can all too easily appeal to the TikTok generation. 'Last year almost one thousand young British Muslims were referred to the Prevent counter-terror platform, with 36 per cent of them being very young, 11 to 15 years old – TikTok targets. 'Dame Sara Khan's compelling report published earlier this month found that 29 per cent of 18- to 34-year-olds think it's ok to use violence for political purposes, and that 15 per cent of these are 'violence fixated' individuals like Axel Rudakubana. 'But the glorification of terrorism which is what Rahman seems to be engaged upon is a serious criminal offence under the Terrorism Act 2006. Let us hope the counter-terror cops act to stop Rahman now before it is too late.' The Daily Mail's discovery comes just days after it was revealed Rahman was also using TikTok to sell and promote Islamic books, including ones instructing women to seek their husband's permission to leave the house. A newspaper reported that Rahman has written eight books under the alias Abu Baraa with content including discouraging Muslims from holding elected political office and promoting interpretations of Islamic law that call for homosexuals to be killed. Rahman's incendiary videos were reposted just days ago on the Chinese social media platform by supporters on a new account after a prior report prompted TikTok chiefs to delete Rahman's personal account. One video posted by Rahman last month was captioned 'The Truth about Terrorism convictions'. In the footage, he told followers: 'They [terrorists] don't mean violence. I would say 99 per cent of the people convicted of terrorism – their cases have nothing to do with violence. Mizanur Rahman, right, with hate preacher Anjem Choudary in picture issued by police in 2016 'I would say even 100 per cent, but I am leaving that room just in case there is one case I do not know about. 'I can't think of a single terrorism case that involves a person who has killed another person. 'I said this to a bunch of journalists. Initially, they all started laughing and saying, "what are you talking about?" I said, "well, show me, tell me?" 'One said, "what about Michael Adebolajo?" 'I said, "he is not convicted of terrorism he was convicted of murder." 'The people convicted of terrorism they are convicted of reading a magazine, the majority of them, others for protesting, hundreds were arrested in the protests against the genocide in Gaza, men, women, the elderly people, grey-haired, the disabled, because they put a placard up, saying 'from the river to the sea', something like that. 'That's terrorism – you understand.' In a second post also made last month Rahman slammed Muslims who sign up to work as police officers. Mizanur Rahman pictured outside the Old Bailey, where he went on trial in 2007 He explained to an associate, who claimed to have a friend who is 'obsessed with joining the Met Police': 'Sometimes people's greed and their hunger for money leads them to make compromises. 'And those compromises, sometimes they can make you a sinner, and sometimes they make you kafir (non-believer or infidel). 'If you are in a state where you don't care what you do as long as you get the money then that's what's going to happen.' He also blasted Britain for its role in the War on Terror in a video titled 'False narratives of Islam are nothing new – War on Terror Post September 11th'. He argued: 'To borrow a term from (George) Bush there was this 'axis of evil,' this triangle of three major players, America, Britain, and Israel. 'These are the ones that have the most to benefit from keeping Islamophobia alive. 'They claim we are jealous of their way of life and that is why we are attacking them. It hasn't anything to do with the genocides that they are committing, the wars that they are doing, it is all to do with ideology. 'It is failed war propaganda that (has) failed over time.' He went on to add that most of those convicted of terrorism in the UK were simply 'curious teenagers' who had 'downloaded a magazine' and ended up being 'labelled a terrorist'. Rahman has previously used online sermons to denounce Israel's 'genocide' in Gaza and insist abortion is prohibited by Islam. Choudary was jailed for 28 years in 2024 for directing banned terror group al-Muhajiroun. Accountant Rahman, a father of four, was previously one of three men jailed for six years in 2007 after being convicted of soliciting murder of western troops in Iraq. Rahman, then of Palmers Green, north London, had been filmed addressing a rally by loudspeaker, calling for UK soldiers to be brought back from Iraq in body bags. He said: 'We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad. 'We want to see the Mujahideen shoot down their planes the way we shoot down birds. We want to see their tanks burn in the way we burn their flags.' In 2024 reports told how the former al-Muhajiroun member pocketed £1,300 compensation after he complained about a prison strip search. The terror cheerleader accepted an out-of-court settlement over the incident at Belmarsh jail. Rahman was contacted for comment.
