On 20 May, City Hall blocked a £50m Met Police deal with Palantir for a 'clear and serious breach' of procurement rules and because the firm 'acts contrary to London's values'. Palantir's UK boss attacked the Mayor, its lawyers went to the High Court, and within days, on or around 24 June, MOPAC handed Palantir a £2m, 12-month pilot. The company did not change. On 20 May 2026, the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kaya Comer-Schwartz, acting for the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), blocked the Metropolitan Police’s proposed contract with Palantir Technologies for the Unified Operational Analytics platform, worth up to £50m. City Hall gave two reasons: a ‘clear and serious breach’ of procurement rules (the Met engaged only one supplier, did not put its strategy to the Deputy Mayor for approval, and did not demonstrate value for money), and that public money should not support firms that ‘act contrary to London’s values’, citing Palantir’s work with the Israeli military and with US immigration enforcement.

Palantir’s UK chief executive, Louis Mosley, then attacked the decision in broadcast interviews, accusing the Mayor of ‘putting politics over public safety’ and leaving the Met ‘fighting criminals with their hands tied behind their back’. Palantir’s lawyers sent a pre-action letter to MOPAC, and the company launched a challenge in the High Court.

On or around 24 June 2026, within days of that legal challenge, MOPAC granted Palantir a pilot contract worth about £2m, lasting at least 12 months, while the Met runs a fresh procurement. The company that ‘acts contrary to London’s values’ on 20 May was fit for London’s public money by 24 June.
