About this campaign

On Friday 15 May 2026, Nakba Day, Israeli warplanes struck a residential apartment building in Gaza City's Rimal neighbourhood and a civilian vehicle that left the same location. Three Israeli Air Force fighter jets dropped 13 bombs. No warning was given, per Gaza's civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basel.

At least seven Palestinians were killed, including three women and a child. More than 50 were wounded, several critically. The Palestine Red Crescent Society transported nearly 30 patients to a field hospital. Israel said it was trying to kill Hamas military chief Izz al-Din al-Haddad. Israel has not confirmed his death.

A ceasefire has been in force since mid-October 2025. According to Gaza's health ministry, over 850 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks during that ceasefire.
