On 11 and 12 May 2026, seven Western outlets, plus the Daily Mail in the UK, ran the Civil Commission's 'Silenced No More' report on October 7 sexual violence as front-page editorial. Two of the eight (CNN as launch partner, and the Daily Mail) ran the report as established fact. The other six syndicated wire copy or close paraphrases of it.
None of the eight disclosed: that the Commission's founder, chair, lead author and sole spokesperson are the same person, Dr Cochav Elkayam-Levy; that she has a documented record of misrepresenting October 7 evidence (November 2023, at Harvard's Maimonides Society, she presented photographs of dead Kurdish combatants as Israeli victims and declined to issue a correction after exposure); or that the report's witness pool overlaps substantially with the 2023 NYT 'Screams Without Words' credibility wreckage (ZAKA, Shari Mendes, the 50+ journalism professors' letter, the NYT cutting ties with its co-author after she liked posts calling for Gaza to be turned into a 'slaughterhouse').
The day before the report ran, the New York Times opinion section published Nicholas Kristof's column on systematic Israeli sexual violence against Palestinian detainees, sourced to the UN, B'Tselem, Save the Children, Euro-Med, the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, and 14 first-hand interviews. The 2025 UN Commission of Inquiry described it as 'standard operating procedure'. Six of seven outlets either ignored the Kristof column entirely or referenced it as Israeli pushback rather than parallel investigative content.
