On 26 October 2026 the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry reported to the UN General Assembly that Israel continues to commit genocidal acts in Gaza since the so-called 'ceasefire', and that Israel has committed the crimes against humanity of extermination, torture, rape and other sexual violence, and persecution, in the West Bank. Israeli attacks killed more than 1,431 people in Gaza after the 'ceasefire', including at least 300 children.
Sky News headlined it: "UN report claims Israel 'genocide' in Gaza has continued after ceasefire". Sky used "claims" or "alleges" about the findings nine times, called the UN's own death toll a claim, wrote that Palestinians "died" while Israelis "were killed" in a "terror attack" it called "the atrocity", and gave Israel's denial its standfirst and a subheading in Israel's own words.
Reuters told its readers the report was about children and went to the Security Council. Both are wrong. It left out every crime against humanity the commission found. CBC ran the same copy.
