Afghan call, Khamenei condolences
Afghanistan condemned the American-Israeli aggression against Iran in a phone call between the Afghan government’s Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to Anadolu Ajansı.
“Afghanistan condemns the American-Israeli aggression against Iran”
The report says Muttaqi condemned the American-Israeli attacks on Iran and called for an immediate halt to the escalation and a return to diplomatic channels.
During the call, Muttaqi expressed Afghanistan’s rejection of “violations targeting Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” and he also offered condolences for the death of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, who “lost his life in the American and Israeli attacks.”
Anadolu Ajansı adds that Araghchi expressed appreciation for the Afghan administration’s stance in support of Iran.
The Anadolu report frames the conflict as beginning “Since the early hours of Saturday,” when Israel and the United States were “waging a military aggression against Iran.”
It also says Tehran responded by launching “volleys of missiles and drones toward Israel,” including strikes it described as directed at “what it calls American bases in the region.”
The Anadolu account states that some strikes resulted in “deaths, injuries, and damage to civilian property,” and it attributes the reported death toll to “hundreds of people,” led by Ali Khamenei and security officials.
Bombardment, evacuations, Rubio
A separate report from Al Araby Al Jadeed describes the conflict as entering its third day, with “intense exchanges of blows” that “widened and set the region ablaze.”
The outlet says the US Central Command announced “the bombing of more than a thousand targets inside Iran,” and it claims the destruction of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ headquarters.

Al Araby Al Jadeed also says Tehran confirmed the death of “a further number of its military leaders” as airstrikes continued on several cities, “notably Tehran.”
The report states that Oman “sees the door of diplomacy open between Iran and the United States,” while it also quotes the American president predicting the strikes would continue for “four weeks,” adding that “three American soldiers have been killed so far.”
It further reports that “London allowed Washington to use its bases to strike Iran,” while “France, Germany, and Britain” threatened steps described as defensive to destroy Iran’s missile capabilities.
Al Araby Al Jadeed says the Gulf Cooperation Council called on Tehran to stop attacks on Arab states immediately, stressing that the Gulf states “will take all necessary measures to defend their security and stability and to protect their territory and its citizens and residents, including the option of responding to Iran’s aggression on its lands.”
The report also describes Israeli evacuation warnings to Tehran residents, “especially the area housing the IRIB headquarters,” and it says Reuters reported “two explosions near the headquarters of the Iranian Broadcasting and Television Organization” after an Israeli warning to evacuate the surrounding area.
In addition, Al Araby Al Jadeed quotes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying, “We hope the Iranian people can topple this government and establish a new future for that country,” while adding that “the goal of this mission is to destroy their ballistic missile capabilities and their naval capabilities.”
Khamenei death claims, drone attack
Al Araby Al Jadeed reports that Iranian television confirmed the “assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei” as a result of the aggression launched by the United States and Israel, and it says IRNA reported the assassination of Iran’s Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Shamkhani and IRGC commander Mohammad Bagheri.
“Al Araby Al Jadeed's escalation continues on the third day of the war that erupted after the US–Israeli aggression against Iran, with intense exchanges of blows between the warring parties that have widened and set the region ablaze”
The same report says Reuters reported Iranian media about “two explosions near the headquarters of the Iranian Broadcasting and Television Organization,” shortly after the Israeli occupation army issued a warning to evacuate the surrounding area.
It also describes an announcement from the Islamic Resistance in Iraq that it launched a “drone swarm attack on the Victoria Military Base at Baghdad Airport,” and it quotes the group’s press release: “In fulfillment of our religious duty and in vengeance for the blood of martyr Ali Khamenei and in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, our Mujahideen today launched a drone swarm targeting the Victoria Military Base at Baghdad Airport.”
The report adds that Reuters also reported the Israeli army announced the start of a new wave of strikes on Tehran.
It further says AFP reported Rubio stating that the United States carried out a “preventive attack on Iran on Saturday,” after learning that Israel intended to launch an attack that would have provoked a retaliatory response against American forces.
Al Araby Al Jadeed includes Rubio’s explanation: “We knew that if we did not strike before they carried out those attacks, we would incur greater losses.”
The report also says Reuters quoted US Central Command (CENTCOM) raising the number of American soldiers killed since the start of the war against Iran to six, and it attributes to CENTCOM a post on X stating that “American forces have finally recovered the bodies of two soldiers who were previously listed as missing from a facility targeted during the initial Iranian attacks in the region.”
Gulf states, diplomacy door
Al Araby Al Jadeed places the regional response alongside the military exchanges, describing how Oman sees “the door of diplomacy open between Iran and the United States” while the Gulf Cooperation Council demands that Tehran stop attacks on Arab states.
The report says the Gulf Cooperation Council stressed that the Gulf states “will take all necessary measures to defend their security and stability and to protect their territory and its citizens and residents,” including “the option of responding to Iran’s aggression on its lands.”

It also says London allowed Washington to use its bases to strike Iran, while France, Germany, and Britain threatened steps described as defensive to destroy Iran’s missile capabilities.
In the same account, it reports that Reuters quoted an American official urging Americans to “leave now” from more than 12 Middle Eastern countries, and it ties that to evacuation warnings and strike preparations.
The report also says AP quoted a senior military spokesman on Monday denying reports of a directive from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to withdraw or move security or military units from western Iraq, stating the reports are “completely untrue” and that security units continue their “normal duties.”
Al Araby Al Jadeed further describes an American Embassy in Amman evacuation temporarily due to a threat, quoting the embassy’s Facebook page: “Out of extreme caution, all American embassy personnel have temporarily left the embassy complex due to a threat.”
It also says AFP cited a Cypriot government source that Iranian-made drones targeted a British military base in Cyprus launched from neighboring Lebanon, and that one hit an aircraft apron.
Press TV analysis, 40-day war
PressTV presents a different angle, arguing that Iran’s “undeclared factors could turn any new aggression into bigger defeat for US,” and it frames the analysis around a “fragile ceasefire” and “the enemy's desperation to resume all-out war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“Amid a fragile ceasefire and the enemy's desperation to resume all-out war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, multiple factors could inflict a larger defeat on the United States should it resort to another military adventure, according to a Press TV analysis”
The outlet says its assessment is based on “evidence, interviews with officials, and inputs from knowledgeable sources,” and it claims that American war planners “inadvertently overlooked” several factors during a “recent 40-day war against the Islamic Republic.”
PressTV’s first point concerns Iran’s “undeclared asymmetric response to continued US maritime piracy and banditry,” describing it as “capable of disrupting all of Trump's war calculations.”
It says Iran’s decision “not to unveil this response so far” increases “ambiguity on the enemy's side” and makes the response “more effective.”
The second point, PressTV says, relates to “numerous options” not yet used by Iran and the Resistance Front, including “fiber optic communication lines beneath the Strait of Hormuz.”
The third point focuses on Iran’s “vast land borders,” stating that “the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz” and “global economic crisis” could “tilt the endurance battle” and force “America” to choose between war and “accepting Iran's conditions.”
PressTV also claims “unprecedented national unity” leaves “no chance for the anti-government uprising” that it says US economic pressure was designed to foment.
