Shelling near Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said an Israeli attack on the outskirts of the town of Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali in the Hermel District left six people injured, including five Syrian nationals. Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that an enemy military drone targeted a car in the town near the Syrian border.

The IDF said it “struck a Syrian terrorist,” identified as Yusef Ali Al-Hassan, who it said “operated under the direction of the Iranian regime” and planned attacks targeting Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers operating in southern Syria. Lebanon’s health ministry said the Israeli attack near Hawsh al-Sayyed Ali led to six wounded, including five Syrian nationals, two of them women, and one Lebanese.

Escalation across southern Lebanon

Al Jazeera said the Israeli occupation army escalated attacks on scattered areas of southern Lebanon on Thursday through airstrikes, artillery shelling, and mining operations, alongside drones and sweeping operations with light and medium machine guns. Al Jazeera said the attacks targeted the towns of Al-Mansuri and Zabqine in the Sidon District, and the areas of Hadathaa, Barhashit, Bayt Yehon, and Wadi Al-Salouqi in the Bint Jbeil District.

Al Jazeera reported that the National News Agency did not report any information about deaths or injuries as a result of these attacks. The Israeli army identified Captain Ilyaav Ha-ayim Tsaflamus (21), from the city of Haifa in northern Israel, as an officer killed on Thursday due to the “rollover of their vehicle,” and it said three soldiers were injured and transported to the hospital.

Framework agreement, ongoing operations

Anadolu Ajansı said the Israeli army continued attacks on southern Lebanon on Thursday with airstrikes, blowing up homes, firing artillery, and conducting machine-gun sweeps, targeting areas including Al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district. Anadolu Ajansı said the Lebanese official National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes struck Al-Mansouri and that Israeli forces had earlier rigged several homes in Al-Mansouri with explosives before blowing them up.

Anadolu Ajansı said that on June 26, Beirut and Tel Aviv signed a US-sponsored “framework formula” in Washington providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas vacated by Israeli forces. Anadolu Ajansı said that despite the agreement, Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon have continued, and it added that since March 2, Israel’s offensive on Lebanon has killed at least 4,386 people, injured 12,413, and displaced more than 1 million.
