Prime swaps Grubhub
Amazon announced a partnership with Uber Eats that lets Prime members get a $0 delivery fee on Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25 or more when ordering right on Amazon. Amazon said Prime members can start ordering immediately, with no new app, Uber account, or credentials required, and members can simply search “Uber Eats” on Amazon to browse restaurants and place an order.
Amazon also ended its partnership with Grubhub, which offered Prime members similar benefits, and the companies said the new Uber Eats benefit is available to all Prime members starting today. Amazon said the companies are offering $20 off each of Prime members' first two Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25 or more for the first 14 days, and Prime Visa card members earn 5% back on all Uber Eats orders through December 5, 2026.
How ordering works
Amazon said Prime members can order through Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app using existing Amazon account credentials, with no new app or Uber Eats account needed to get started. Amazon said it will send email and push notifications with updates on delivery status, and Uber Eats will send a final order confirmation.
QSR Web said the benefit is available in nearly 10,000 U.S. cities and offers access to hundreds of thousands of restaurants, including Wingstop, Chipotle and Sweetgreen. The Verge said Prime members can order takeout straight from the Amazon app or website with waived delivery fees on orders over $25, without having to use Uber Eats or even create an account.
Savings and reach
Amazon said the new Uber Eats benefit gives Prime members access to Uber Eats’ vast selection of hundreds of thousands of restaurants nationwide, reaching nearly every household in the U.S.
Amazon said the benefit is available coast to coast, naming Boston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, and also listing Oak Park, Illinois, and Daphne, Alabama, plus Boardman, Oregon, and Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
USA TODAY said the perk is available to all Prime members, including members of Amazon's half-price memberships Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access, and it said Prime members can get $20 off the first two Uber Eats orders of $25 or more eligible Nov. 5-Nov. 18.
Amazon said the partnership could potentially save more than $175 per year, and it framed the offer as “unlimited free, fast delivery on a wide selection of products” with “now even more value on restaurant delivery with Uber Eats”.
