Suicide attack in Gwadar
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing on a Pakistan Coast Guards camp in Balochistan’s Gwadar district, alleging that an explosives-laden vehicle targeted the Panwan Coast Guard base in Jiwani.
“ANI |Updated:Jul 04, 2026 01:20IST Balochistan[Pakistan], July 4 (ANI): The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a deadly "fidayee" (suicide commando) attack on aPakistanCoast Guard camp in the Panwan area of Jiwani in Gwadar”
In the BLA’s account, the blast occurred at around 6:32 PM (local time) and the group said the fortified camp was "completely turned into a heap of rubble."
ANI reported the attack was carried out on Friday evening by the BLA's elite Majeed Brigade, and it said the suicide bomber, identified by the group as Attaullah Baloch alias Ajmal, rammed an explosive-laden Mazda truck into the camp.
The BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch told reporters that "the fortified colonial camp of the Coast Guards was completely turned into a heap of rubble," and the group alleged more than 30 Pakistani personnel were killed and dozens more injured.
The Pakistani military and government authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming the exact casualty toll or the extent of the damage resulting from the Jiwani assault.
BLA video and assault
The BLA’s media wing Hakkal released a 43-second video clip that purportedly shows the explosive-laden truck entering the camp moments before a catastrophic explosion, and ANI said subsequent footage indicated that a substantial portion of the military structure had been completely levelled.
In ANI’s reporting of the BLA statement, the initial vehicle bombing was immediately followed by a coordinated ground assault executed by its tactical wing, the Fateh Squad, and the group said its vanguard unit advanced "launching an assault on the destroyed camp from all sides."

News18 also quoted BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch saying that after the attack, the BLA’s vanguard unit, the Fateh Squad, advanced rapidly and in an organised manner, launching an assault on the destroyed camp from all sides.
Both outlets said the BLA claimed Fateh Squad fighters engaged surviving Coast Guard personnel at close range, while the BLA spokesperson added that a further increase in casualties was highly likely due to injuries and personnel trapped under the rubble.
The Afghan International report similarly said Pakistan's army has not yet commented on the claim, and it described the operation as carried out by the 'Lowa Majid' unit of the Special Fighters in the Jiwani area, located in Gwadar District.
Casualty claims and next steps
Across the accounts, the BLA claimed more than 30 Pakistani Coast Guard personnel were killed and dozens more injured, with News18 saying the group alleged that more than 30 paramilitary personnel were killed and several others injured.
“The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a deadly "fidayee" (suicide commando) attack on a Pakistan coast guard camp in the Panwan area of Jiwani in Gwadar”
ANI reported the BLA said the death toll was expected to rise, stating that "a further increase in the enemy's casualties is highly likely," given the critical condition of the injured and personnel trapped under the rubble.
The Afghan International report likewise said the Baloch Liberation Army asserted that casualties could rise because of the severity of the wounded and those still trapped under the rubble, and it said the group would release further details soon.
ANI further reported the BLA said its armed campaign targeting Pakistani security forces would continue "with the same intensity" until its ultimate objective of the "complete independence of Balochistan" is achieved.
With Pakistan's military and government authorities not yet issuing an official statement confirming the casualty figures or the extent of the damage, the immediate stakes in the sources center on whether the claimed toll and destruction will be verified and on the BLA’s stated continuation of attacks.
