Binance launches 24/7 FX perpetual futures, starting with USD/BRL Weekend pricing uses dual-mode pricing to maintain liquidity

Binance adds 24/7 FX perps
Binance announced the launch of 24/7 FX perpetual futures with a weekend pricing system, expanding its derivatives catalog with continuous exposure to currency markets. The first contract, USDBRLUSDT (USD/Brazil Real), is scheduled to begin trading on September 21, 2026 at 14:00 (UTC) and will settle in USDT.

Cointelegraph reported the contract will offer up to 100x leverage and will use a dual-mode pricing system that switches between a weighted index during regular hours and an orderbook-based mechanism on weekends and public holidays. Binance said the weekend system uses an exponentially weighted moving average of orderbook prices rather than relying on external price feeds, aiming to maintain contract coherence when traditional FX markets are closed.

How the pricing works
Binance described its approach as a dual-mode pricing framework that updates the price index every second during regular FX trading hours using a weighted average of constituent prices from third-party data vendors. During weekends and public holidays, Binance said the system transitions to Orderbook EWMA mode, using an exponentially weighted moving average of orderbook prices to maintain fair and orderly pricing when traditional FX liquidity is thinner.
Cointelegraph said Binance’s weekend system uses an exponentially weighted moving average of orderbook prices rather than relying on external price feeds, and Binance trading head Shunyet Jan said the contracts are intended to extend price discovery beyond traditional forex trading hours. Finance Magnates added that the contract is scheduled to begin trading on 21 September, settle in USDT, offer leverage of up to 100x, and provide synthetic exposure to USD/BRL without delivering either currency.

Competition and what’s at stake
The launch comes as other crypto exchanges have already moved into FX perpetuals, with Cointelegraph saying Bybit introduced 24/7 perpetuals tracking EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY less than two weeks earlier and offering up to 100x leverage. Cointelegraph also said Kraken launched FX perpetuals tracking the euro, British pound, Australian dollar, Japanese yen and Swiss franc in April 2025, with up to 50x leverage.

In Binance’s own announcement, Shunyet Jan said FX is “traded every moment to hedge and express macro views” and argued Binance’s liquidity and global user base position it to extend continuous price discovery into gaps that traditional FX cannot cover. PR Newswire framed the product as “TradFi Perps” with no expiry dates and emphasized that the contracts are subject to high market risk and price volatility, including the possibility that users may be called upon to make additional margin deposits or face liquidation if margin is not made within the prescribed time.
