Jordan deaths, Iran strikes
U.S. Central Command said on Saturday that two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks on Friday, and it added that one service member remains missing in action.
“Iran says at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in strikes by the United States this month, as an Iranian negotiator says the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two is effectively “suspended” amid US violations”
CENTCOM said four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged, while other personnel treated for minor injuries have returned to duty.

The same reporting said at least three people were killed and eight wounded in overnight strikes by the United States on Iran's southern Hormozgan province, with Fars citing provincial authorities that the Shahid Mirzaei tunnel on the road from the port city of Bandar Abbas to Hajiabad County and three bridges were struck and blocked.
U.S. Central Command also said its forces carried out strikes against Iran during the preceding hours, hitting surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities.
In response, Iran's armed forces announced they had hit U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan in waves of retaliatory missile and drone attacks launched earlier in the day.
Khamenei vows retaliation
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei attacked U.S. President Donald Trump after the U.S. military and Iran continued strikes on each other on Saturday, writing, “The repeated violations by the Great Satan of the memorandum of understanding have once again proven to everyone how worthless and unreliable the signature of the President of the United States is”.
Khamenei added that “the noble Iranian nation and the Axis of Resistance have unforgettable lessons in store for it,” framing the warning as a response to what he described as the American enemy seeking to ignite further war.
The Hill reported CENTCOM's statement that two U.S. service members were killed and one is still missing after Iran hit two military bases in Jordan on Friday, and it quoted CENTCOM saying it would withhold additional information until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified.
The Hill also recorded House Speaker Mike Johnson writing, “Praying for the loved ones of these brave fallen American heroes, for the swift recovery of those injured, and for the safe return of the missing service member,” and it noted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth responding with “Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.”
In parallel, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabad announced Iran was suspending its commitments to the Memorandum of Understanding between it and the United States, in comments publicized by the semi-official Fars news outlet.
MoU suspended, shipping at risk
Al Jazeera reported that Iran says at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in strikes by the United States this month, and it said Iran’s Health Ministry gave the figures after CENTCOM launched a seventh consecutive night of raids.
“A written message attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, says that Donald Trump’s signature is 'worthless' and that the United States will receive 'unforgettable lessons”
Al Jazeera also quoted Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi saying, “The US has violated and suspended all of its commitments within the framework of the Islamabad MoU,” and it added that Tehran has “likewise suspended all our own commitments” and is “busy defending the country”.
The same Al Jazeera report said the attacks left 10,000 people without water after a desalination plant was hit, and it described the battle over the Strait of Hormuz intensifying as the global economy faced “widening strikes threatening civilians and services, including desalination plants for drinking water.”
It further said a seawater pumping station and a power transformer at the Bunji desalination plant in Jask were “completely destroyed,” depriving 20 villages of water, with Hamzeh Pour of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company quoted by Iran’s Tasnim news agency.
CNBC added that CENTCOM said during the first three days of renewed implementation, U.S. forces have redirected 4 commercial vessels, disabled 1, and boarded 1 to ensure compliance, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps said it blocked four vessels attempting to move under U.S. protection through the Strait of Hormuz.
