Michigan killings unfold
A 39-year-old gunman, Chad Hickman, killed five people and then himself in a series of shootings across Michigan on Friday, according to Michigan State Police.
“Suspect Chad Hickman, 39, fled before they arrived at the home”
Officers responded just before noon to reports of a shooting at a home in Missaukee County, about 170 miles (270 kilometers) northwest of Detroit, and found three people dead and another in critical condition.

As officers conducted a large-scale search for Hickman, they found a fourth person dead at another home in Missaukee County.
Authorities later found Hickman’s vehicle near Whitlock Lake in Caldwell Township, and that led them to his body and another dead person in the woods, police said.
Officials urge caution
In a post on the social platform X, police warned that Hickman was armed and dangerous and told community members not to approach him.
Lt. Ashley Miller said, “This situation is heartbreaking for the community and challenging for the investigators involved,” and added that investigators would work through the night to process each scene.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she was briefed on the shooting and monitoring the situation, telling the public, “My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the Missaukee community,”.
Authorities asked people to avoid the areas where the shootings took place, and the names and ages of the people killed were not immediately released pending family notification.
Investigation and unknowns
Police said a motive for the killings was not immediately known, and they were still investigating how each person died and whether the victims had any relationship to Hickman.
“no han divulgado información sobre cómo murió cada persona”
The CBS News report described the case as a “multi-homicide investigation” while noting that the manner of death for all five victims was not provided.
ClickOnDetroit reported that Michigan State Police were investigating deaths of six people, including a suspected shooter, with bodies discovered at three locations while investigators worked to notify families.
The New York Times said authorities had yet to release information about the victims and that the gunman, Chad Hickman, was found dead in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake in Caldwell Township.
