China unveiled a package of 10 incentive measures for Taiwan following a visit by Taiwan's opposition leader. Xinhua stated that food and fishery product inspections will be eased but must align with opposing Taiwan's independence.
Taiwanese TV dramas will be allowed if they have correct orientation and healthy content. There was no immediate response from Taiwan's government. China continues to refuse engagement with President Lai Ching-te.
Taiwan's Reaction
Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council called Beijing's concessions poisoned pills. The council emphasized that exchanges should not be subject to political preconditions. The KMT welcomed China's announcement as a gift to the people of Taiwan.
Relations remain strained as China refuses to engage with President Lai Ching-te. Taiwan has raised concerns regarding China's tourism restrictions and import bans.
