3D-printed hybrid hypercar
Czinger Vehicles has unveiled the Czinger 21C 'El Mirage', a hybrid hypercar that Lukas Czinger says draws its inspiration from military aviation.
“The temptation with a car like the Czinger 21C is to treat it as a collection of extreme specifications, and to be fair, it’s certainly not lacking in that department”
The 21C is built around a hybrid system with an internally developed 2.88-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with two electric motors, and the technical sheet describes a total output of 1,250 hp.

Motorlegend says the 21C uses 3D printing technology in its design and gives the curb weight as 1,250 kg, paired with 1,250 hp to offer a 1:1 weight-to-power ratio.
The same Motorlegend technical sheet says the 21C can reach a top speed of 432 km/h and that a “Lightweight” version reduces weight to 1,218 kg versus 1,250 kg for the standard model.
Turbo.fr adds that the 21C is the first car in the world to be designed by humans and AI and printed in 3D, and it notes that the 21C project was shelved until it was picked up again in 2022.
Performance claims and records
Motorlegend says the 21C can propel from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in 15 seconds, while it also states the 21C can reach a top speed of 432 km/h.
Ars Technica describes the 21C as a carbon-fiber-bodied hybrid hypercar built around a bespoke 2.88-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank V8 that revs to 11,000 rpm.

Motor1 Italia reports that in the 2023 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Rimac Nevera set an absolute record by covering almost 2 km in 49.32 seconds, and it says the American Czinger 21C lowered the time to 48.83 seconds.
Motor1 Italia adds that the 21C was driven by Chris Ward and that it became the fastest street-legal car in the history of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Ars Technica says the 21C VMax is capable of hitting 60 mph (97 km/h) from rest in 1.92 seconds on its way to an 8.6 second quarter mile and a 253 mph (378 km/h) top speed.
Production limits and next targets
Turbo.fr says only 80 units are planned for the Czinger 21C, and it notes that the price has not yet been revealed.
“This American hypercar wants to keep breaking records”
Motorlegend says production of the Czinger 21C will be limited to 80 units and that it will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show on May 3.
L'Auto-Journal says the 21C is available in two versions, road and track, and it describes the track version nicknamed Lightweight Track as 32 kg lighter while its top speed is limited to 380 km/h.
L'Auto-Journal also says the manufacturer plans to attempt further feats, potentially at the Nürburgring circuit, and it frames the goal as beating a record held by the Mercedes-AMG One.
Ars Technica places the 21C within a broader industrial context by saying Czinger Vehicles was founded in 2019 by Kevin and Lukas Czinger as an extension of Divergent Technologies, a Los Angeles-based engineering firm.
