Donald Trump Threatens Iran With 1,000 Missiles If It Tries To Assassinate Him

US President Donald Trump threatened to launch thousands of missiles at Iran if it tried to assassinate him, writing on Truth Social that “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Trump said “Orders have already been given” and claimed the US military was “ready, willing, and able” for a one-year period, “subject to extension,” to “completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.”

The warning came as senior US officials demanded Iran make a public statement that the Strait of Hormuz is open and that ships crossing the corridor would not be attacked any longer, according to the South China Morning Post.

The same reporting said Tehran had not made that statement, insisting the route remain under its control and that it be allowed to charge ships moving through it, while the US continued to press for assurances tied to the Strait of Hormuz.

During the funeral of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, mourners held posters or banners calling for his killing alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Trump’s threats followed those open calls, the South China Morning Post reported.

The Hill described Trump’s warning as “complete decimation” and said it came after the Wall Street Journal reported Israeli intelligence shared new information with US officials about Tehran considering a plan to kill the president.

The Hill also reported that Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to avenge his father and wrote that revenge for the “martyred leader” was “the demand of the nation” and “must certainly” take place.

In response to the broader confrontation, the Anadolu Ajansı account said the US hit targets in Iran and Iran retaliated by targeting US assets across the region after both sides traded attacks over passage of commercial traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

CBS News said an Iranian delegation traveled to Oman to continue negotiations via mediators despite a US-Iran truce derailed under the mid-June memorandum of understanding, while Trump reiterated his “decimate and destroy” threat if the regime attempted to assassinate him.

Euronews reported that Trump said he had agreed to continue talks but reiterated that a ceasefire outlined in the June “memorandum of understanding” was over, as retaliatory strikes threatened to undermine efforts for a final agreement.

Euronews also said CENTCOM announced it launched a fresh wave of strikes and that “around 170 targets were hit across the two days,” while Iran attacked US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.

In parallel, Anadolu Ajansı reported that in June Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding under Pakistani mediation calling for an immediate end to fighting on all fronts, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran, and re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, even as the two sides traded attacks over commercial traffic in the strait.
