Key Takeaways
- Drones killed people in Sudan in 2025, including two children in Delling.

- Delling strike follows ongoing drone use in Sudan's 2025 conflict.
Sudan drone deaths surge
In Sudan’s war that has torn the country apart since 2023, an Ouest-France report citing the American NGO ACLED says drones killed 80 Sudanese in 2023 and 369 the following year.
“Russia carried out strikes using missiles and drones, killing at least 18 people, including two children, in various parts of Ukraine, in one of Moscow's largest attacks in recent months”
The same ACLED-based figures in the Ouest-France piece say that in 2025 the number of drone deaths reached 2,190, describing it as a dramatic level and pointing to a growing use of drones by all belligerents.

Ouest-France links the drone use to the deadly fight between the army and the paramilitaries, including the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries, who have been at war since April 2023.
The Ouest-France account frames the conflict in recent months as marked by a multiplication of attacks carried out by armed forces and RSF paramilitaries, including strikes that target military targets and civilian objectives.
In parallel, Radio Dabanga reports that a drone strike on Delling in South Kordofan killed two children and injured their mother, with local sources saying the drone fired seven missiles at residential areas.
Delling strike and siege-like conditions
Radio Dabanga says the drone strike on Delling happened on Wednesday evening as violence escalated across Kordofan amid mounting humanitarian warnings.
The outlet reports that the attack is part of a series of artillery and drone strikes on Delling by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North led by Abdelaziz El Hilu (SPLM-N), which residents say have killed and injured dozens of civilians.

Radio Dabanga adds that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) lifted the town’s siege in May after capturing El Takma, but that access remains insecure and that health facilities have closed, medicines are scarce, and many doctors have fled.
It also cites the Global Protection Cluster saying at least 100 civilians have been killed in Delling since February, including 35 since the beginning of April, and that more than 25 others have been injured in indiscriminate shelling and air strikes.
Radio Dabanga quotes the organisation warning that siege-like conditions have returned, with unsafe roads, restricted movement and severe shortages of aid and essential goods.
Humanitarian strain across Sudan
Radio Dabanga reports that Delling now hosts about 37,000 residents and 14,000 displaced people, while the town faces a worsening humanitarian crisis.
“The army and the paramilitaries, whose deadly fight has torn Sudan apart since 2023, are resorting to airstrikes that target military targets and civilian objectives”
The outlet says the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expanded humanitarian assistance in North Kordofan with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, providing food to more than 42,000 people and nutritional support for over 7,000 children and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Radio Dabanga also reports that El Obeid Teaching Hospital has treated more than 850 gunshot victims, underscoring the pressure on health services.
Beyond Sudan, Radio Dabanga says a Sudanese refugee was killed by lightning during heavy rain at Gaga camp in eastern Chad while collecting drinking water on Tuesday evening.
The outlet adds that the Norwegian Refugee Council warned declining humanitarian funding is leaving Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad without adequate shelter, education and basic services, urging donors to increase support as needs continue to grow.
