Fidelity Says Bitcoin Drawdown Pushes Market Into Historic Accumulation Zone
This article is an automated aggregation of coverage from news outlets. Our editorials offer in-depth analysis curated by the NewsCord team.
Bitcoin nears Fidelity's power-law support near $58,000, signaling an accumulation zone. The $58,000 level has marked every cycle bottom since 2015.

Fidelity’s Accumulation Zone
Fidelity Digital Assets said Bitcoin’s latest drawdown has pushed the market into a zone that has historically aligned with accumulation phases, even as its momentum signal remains negative and broader crypto risk appetite stays narrow. In its Signals Report Q2 2026, Fidelity’s research team said Bitcoin spent 71 of the previous 91 days, or 78% of the period, below negative one standard deviation of the Yardstick’s mean. Fidelity’s report tied the clearest Bitcoin signal to its “Yardstick,” rating the metric positive and describing a falling-price, pullback-in-hash-rate setup that has pushed the indicator into an “undervalued” zone.
Fidelity also said its momentum signal for Bitcoin turned negative on October 18, 2025, when BTC traded near $107,000, and that Bitcoin has since fallen roughly 36% with most of Q1 2026 spent in a defined range between $62,500 and $76,022. At press time, BTC traded at $76,036, while Fidelity said its “Hope-Fear” reading left investors cautious with BTC’s net unrealized profit/loss at 0.21 at the end of Q1 2026.

Timmer Sees Support, Not Bottom
Fidelity’s director of global macro, Jurrien Timmer, said Bitcoin is edging toward a power law support level that has held through every major market bottom since 2015, with the lower support line sitting near $58,000. CoinDesk and The Cryptonomist both framed Timmer’s view as an accumulation zone rather than a confirmed reversal, with Timmer expecting Bitcoin could drift sideways near support for months absent a liquidity catalyst. The Cryptonomist reported that the gap between current prices and the power law trendline has reached negative 56%, matching depths seen at prior cycle bottoms, and that the 52-week bitcoin-to-gold ratio has dropped to around negative 100%.
Timmer stopped short of calling a bottom, emphasizing that the power law model “doesn’t predict collapse” but instead suggests a defined range where Bitcoin has historically found its footing. CoinDesk added that Timmer pointed to a rotation in which speculative capital moved from Bitcoin into gold and then into semiconductor stocks, leaving Bitcoin as the asset still testing the lower boundary of the model.

What Traders Watch Next
While Fidelity’s broader Signals Report emphasized stabilization rather than fresh upside momentum, Timmer’s power-law framework highlighted how the market can remain near support without snapping back. TradingView said Fidelity’s signal was “not designed to identify precise tops or bottoms,” and that the current reading points to stabilization rather than fresh upside momentum. The Cryptonomist added that Timmer expects Bitcoin could drift near support for months, even as on-chain data from Glassnode showed Bitcoin spent 307 days trading within the $60,000–$70,000 range.
CryptoPotato reported that Bitcoin whales holding between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC accelerated accumulation, pushing whale-controlled Bitcoin to roughly 3.204 million BTC. CryptoPotato also said whale balances rose by about 152,000 BTC in the last 30 days, while Santiment noted traders showed fear, uncertainty and doubt after BTC fell below $82,000, its lowest price since November 21.
